Assistant Community Development Trainer – Gender-Based Violence (GBV)

Location: Sidhbari, District Kangra, Himachal Pradesh
Duration: 5 Years (Renewable based on performance)
Reporting to: Community Development Trainer
Role Objective
You will enable a transformative 3-5 yearlong program to institutionalize a bottom-up, community-led GBV prevention and response system under CORD’s comprehensive vison and program. Mission of this program is to bridge the gap between rural grassroots institutions and formal legal/protection systems, ensuring survivors of GBV in district Kangra have immediate access to recovery and long-term resilience and promotion of GBV.
Key Responsibilities
Institutional Strengthening: Build leadership capacities of Community-Based Organizations (CBOs) such as Mahila Mandals, Yuva Samuhs, Bal Vihars, and Yuvak Groups and men from groups to act as nodal platforms for legal awareness, prevention,cand collective action against GBV. Hub-and-Spoke Management: Support the establishment and supervision of Education, Counselling, and Guidance (ECG) Centres, ensuring effective crisis response, legal guidance, psychosocial support, and rehabilitation for survivors.
Governance & Advocacy: Assist in training Elected Gram Panchayat leaders and CBOs members and community to integrate GBV prevention into local governance and support facilitation of district and State-level Muli-stakeholder Advocacy Forums.
Data & Tech Oversight: Contribute to the development and management of a disaggregated database and profiling dashboard to track GBV trends and program impact across 100 Gram Panchayats.
Networking & Convergence: Liaise with Women and Child Development Departments, Health Officers, Police, and legal aid institutions to strengthen formal GBV response mechanisms.
Knowledge Management: Support the creation and maintenance of an online and offline Knowledge Bank to document and share best practices with practitioners and policy influencers.
Training and Capacity Building: Assist in designing and delivering training programs for team members, community stakeholders, and partners to enhance knowledge, skills, and competencies.
Reporing and Team Support: Prepare accurate and mely reports, support team coordination, and assist in motivating team members with organisational leadership of CORD.
Required Qualifications & Competencies
Education: Master’s degree preferably in Social Work, Gender Studies, Rural Development, Human Rights, MBA in Rural Development.
Experience: Minimum 3 years in GBV or women’s empowerment projects, preferably in rural Himalayan contexts. If graduate minimum 6 years of experience required
Leadership Skills: Proven ability to engage with Panchayat Raj Institutions (PRI) and mobilize women-led CBOs, Men, Youths, Children and related stakeholders.
Technical Knowledge: Knowledge of the Protecon of Women from Domestic Violence Act (PWDVA), other related women related Indian legislation, and gender issues including gender equality, gender-based violence prevention, and social inclusion.
Language: Fluency in Hindi and English is mandatory; proficiency in Pahari/Punjabi is an advantage for community engagement.
Salary: Negotiable Rs.18,000/- to 30,000/- per month, depending on experience and ability in grassroot interactions.
