The Centre for Budget and Policy Studies (CBPS) is inviting applications for the CBPS Research Fellowship 2026–27, a one-year full-time fellowship programme based in Bengaluru. CBPS is a non-partisan, non-profit public policy research institution working in the areas of education, gender, livelihoods, governance, health, public finance, and social security. The fellowship aims to mentor young scholars and help them develop strong research skills through participation in ongoing research projects under the guidance of experienced mentors. Fellows will work closely with CBPS research staff in an academically rigorous environment involving seminars, workshops, public events, and collaborative learning opportunities. Selected fellows will receive hands-on exposure to research, evaluation, evidence-based policy making, and public policy analysis.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Support ongoing research projects in areas such as education, gender, governance, health, public finance, livelihoods, and social security
- Conduct literature reviews, data analysis, documentation, and policy research
- Work closely with mentors and research staff on assigned projects
- Participate in seminars, workshops, discussions, and academic events organized by CBPS
- Contribute to evidence-based policy research and analytical outputs
- Engage in interdisciplinary learning and collaborative research activities
Required Qualifications, Skills and Experience
- Candidates who have recently completed Bachelor’s degree or are in the final year of undergraduate programme eligible
- Applicants from all academic disciplines and methodological backgrounds may apply
- Strong interest in public policy, social science research, and evidence-based analysis
- Good analytical, writing, and research skills
- Ability to work in collaborative academic and research environments
- Interest in themes such as education, gender, governance, livelihoods, health, public finance, and social justice
- CBPS especially encourages applications from historically underrepresented groups including first-generation scholars and marginalized communities
